According to a study published in 2021 by the University of Kentucky Prevention Research Center, 100% of Kentucky counties have a shortage of mental health care professionals. Additionally, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation’s research, Kentucky adults have a higher prevalence of anxiety and/or depressive disorders (37.4%) compared to the national average (32.3%)(2023), a higher suicide rate than the national average(2021), and according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (2021) struggle to find the assistance they need to address their mental wellbeing.
